Art Basel’s eighteenth year at the Miami Beach Convention Center is underway, showcasing some of the world’s leading modern and contemporary art galleries. Displaying works from more than 4,000 artists, the four-day festival features a range of creative mediums, including paintings, sculptures, installations, photography, film and digital art. Established in 1970 by Swiss art dealers and gallerists Ernst Beyeler, Trudl Bruckner and Balz Hilt, Art Basel is an international exhibition celebrated annually in three cities around the world — Basel, Switzerland, Miami Beach, Florida and Hong Kong, China. The Miami Beach edition of this commercial art fair is attended by 70,000 art enthusiasts, with more than 250 of the world’s leading art galleries participating in the festivities.
