Happy National LEGO Day from theTUNDRA! Derived from the Danish words “leg godt” (meaning “play well”), the colorful construction toys were invented by Danish carpenter Ole Kirk Christiansen, who founded The LEGO Group, the company that has been manufacturing the famous bricks since their 1949 debut. In the seven decades since, LEGO sets have been created for everything from the Taj Mahal to the Millennium Falcon, with some collectors paying thousands of dollars for the rarest pieces. More than 650 billion LEGOs have been manufactured and the brand has extended to big-budget films, reality television shows and even six theme parks.
"LEGO is fun -- it's therapeutic. It's a beautiful sensation when you click the pieces together." —
