Say yes to a night out at the cinema.

In Defense Of Movie Theaters

People aren't going to the movies like they used to. It's expensive to see a movie these days. It's time-consuming. If you're in a big city, parking's a hassle. You can stream it at home soon.
But I believe movie theaters will always be around for us to enjoy. Even if streaming services eventually allow us to watch a film at home on opening weekend, movie theaters will always be an option. Why? Because movie theaters are an EXPERIENCE. A night at the movies isn't just about the movie.
It's about the camaraderie of gathering with friends and strangers in a dark theater, and kicking back in comfy chairs. Social decorum dictates that you unplug. So it's an escape too.
And then, there's the popcorn. No matter how awesome you are at popping your own, movie theater popcorn just tastes better. Maybe because someone else popped it for you.
It's not all about the popcorn, but for me, that's a big part of it. It's all about the trailers. I hate missing even a single trailer. Can I watch it online? Sure. But it's way more visceral to watch it in a theater. It piques my excitement for upcoming attractions. Bonus if I can guess the film before the trailer tells me.
There's one more thing and that's focus. You can watch a movie at home, but there are probably seven other people and devices competing for your attention. Not in a theater.
