Deputy Rector

Professor Giorgi Melikidze Ph.D. is the Deputy Rector for Science and International Cooperation at the University of Zielona Góra (Uniwesytet Zielnogórski), Poland. He was the Deputy Director of the Abastumani Astrophysical Observatory from 1992 to 1996.

Abastumani Astrophysical Observatory - Abastumani Astrophysical Observatory was founded in 1932 on the territory of the former Soviet Union. It is located on Mount Khanobili, around 240 km from Tbilisi, Georgia, and 30 km in the north-west from Akhaltsikhe, at an altitude of 1700 meters above sea level. The observatory carries out wide-profile research spanning different fields of astronomy and astrophysics and investigations of the upper layers of Earth's atmosphere.
