A Camp Bed is an Absolute Necessity for Long-Term Camping

I have learned from experience that a camp bed is essential when camping long-term. If I plan on staying at the lake for more than a night or two, I make sure that I have my tent cot and mattress pad with me. If I don't, I'll wake up with a backache which dampens my camping trip.

Everyone's needs differ but many years of camping in a teepee tent has taught me what I will and won't tolerate. Sleeping on the ground isn't an option so I make sure that I am well prepared with the right camp bed and bedding when I'm away from home. It increased my satisfaction with my environment and makes camping for weeks a real possibility for me and my family.

Knowing what to look for in a comfortable camp bed is essential if you plan to travel for any length of time like I do. It is among the best investments I've made because I get a lot of use out of it. I don't have to worry about getting too cold because I'm sleeping on the ground because my teepee tent is outfitted with plenty of insulation.

A Good Camp Bed is Needed While Road Tripping

When I was younger, I road tripped solo. I drove from one state to the next and relied on cheap lodging to stretch my travel budget. I was well prepared to camp with my teepee tent and tent cot but never had a need to.

Any of the motels I stumbled across were under $40 a night and offered free breakfast. I considered that a win because some paid camping sites cost close to the same amount and you're in charge of coming up with food for yourself. Still, I was prepared to camp at any given time and didn't have to sacrifice comfort for cost thanks to the wonderful camp bed I purchased months before.

There are many free campsites located on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land. I had them mapped out just in case I couldn't find cheap lodging. I never had to stay in a remote location, however.

Primitive camping sites are plentiful throughout the United States. They're off the beaten path, however, and come with no accommodations whatsoever. Anything that you bring to the campsite must be taken out with you.

I've not experienced this type of camping in years because everywhere I have ever stayed had public restrooms and showers that could be accessed by campers. BLM primitive camping sites require you to possess distinct camping skills. In the past, you could stay in one location for a week or two at a time but not return to the same place for a total of 30 days after you had stayed.

At one point in time, I considered living on the road full-time. I did a lot of research when it came to free camping because I live on a freelancer's income. Work is sporadic and sometimes sparse.

I didn't want to be stuck paying for hotels and motels every single night and I had yet to acquire a recreational vehicle of my own. Exploring my options allowed me to be better prepared for the road trips I took by myself. In fact, I think I may have been a little too eager to pack my vehicle with hundreds of pounds of items.

My car was packed with camping gear just in case I needed to stay overnight for free. I had acquired everything I needed to travel long-term through years of careful deliberation. I bought what I could find secondhand and the rest through online camping goods stores.

I wanted to be prepared for whatever life had to throw at me. That's why I made sure to have a camp bed that I could use whenever I needed it. I didn't want to have an issue once I arrived at BLM land and realize that it wasn't a place where I could camp with ease.

A Tent Cot Isn't as Comfortable as an Air Mattress

Camp beds vary in size and style. I have found that an air mattress is the most ideal for me. It's easy to inflate and compresses in size when the air is let out. It doesn't take up near as much space as a tent cot does in my vehicle.

A good sleeping bag and sleeping bag liner, as well as an air mattress pad, adds even more comfort to my teepee tent. I make sure my camp bed is equipped with quality firm pillows, too. That way I don't have to worry about my body hurting when I wake up after going to bed for the night.

I don't have to glamp, but I do everything in my power to stay comfortable. That way I'm not the person who is raining on everyone else's parade. I want to make their experience pleasant by being a willing participant in all the activities my family wants to take part in while at the lake.

I've made sure to have an extra tent cot available for my son to sleep on when he goes camping with his friends, too. It was a great investment that gets used frequently. Going to the lake is something that we do often where we live.

Camping in Our Teepee Tent is Our Favorite Recreational Activity

There isn't a lot to do in the way of recreation. The lake is about a twenty-minute drive from where I live. It's pet-friendly, too, so I bring my dogs with me whenever we go camping.

A family outing in our teepee tent provides plenty of time to bond and create long-lasting memories with our teenage son. He loves spending time on the water fishing, so we make sure he gets to do a lot of that while camping.

Camping in our teepee tent allows us to take vacations more often because we don't have to pay extra for lodging. It provides us with the ability to see and experience more because we're not as limited on finances. Having a camp bed available for my son makes it easier for him to go places on his own with his friends and their families, too.
