Hottest Sport Gets Hotter: Chicken N Pickle Hosts Ugly Sweater Tournaments
Players Brought Their Holiday Spirit to the Pickleball Court
Pickleball is the hottest sport in the country right now. And thanks to Chicken N Pickle, it just got a whole lot hotter – in the literal sense, that is. With the holiday season in full swing, the multi-hyphenate pickleball entertainment venue hosted an ugly Christmas sweater pickleball tournament at each of its nine locations across the country on Sunday.
Players of all skill levels showed up to the bar, restaurant and pickleball venue dressed in their ugliest holiday attire to compete for the grand prize – a $100 Chicken N Pickle gift card. New to the pickleball court? Don’t worry, you still would’ve had a shot at a $50 gift card awarded to the “best dressed” participants – a nicer way of saying the participants with the ugliest Christmas sweaters.
Pickleball Tournaments Bring Communities Together for the Holidays
Per Wichita’s KSN3 News, the city’s location drew 22 teams. Tony Tram, who participated in the tournament, told KSN that he was surprised how many people embraced the holiday spirit on the pickleball court.
“I mean, walking in, I wasn’t expecting like to see anyone dressed up,” Tram said in an interview with KSN3. “I was kind of scared pulling up with these overalls. It was great to see that the community came together.”
In St. Charles, MO, right outside of St. Louis, the ugly sweater event was the first-ever tournament held at the chain's brand-new location. What a way to break in a new court.
About Chicken N Pickle
According to Chicken N Pickle’s Twitter account, the Kansas City-based chain first hosted its first ugly sweater pickleball event in 2017 -- it has since become an annual tradition. So if you missed out this year, don't worry, you can always play in 2024.
With nine locations across the country and six more slated to open 2024, Chicken N Pickle is one of the fastest growing restaurant chains in the country. In addition to a fast casual restaurant, each venue features a full bar and several pickleball courts – both indoors and out. The Glendale, AZ location hosted this year's NPL Championships. Chicken N Pickle started in Kansas City in 2017, before branching out across the Midwest and beyond as the sport's popularity continues to grow.
