Lexus has created the world’s first tattoo car. In a celebration of Japanese artistry and the human craftwork that goes into the making of Lexus cars, the premium marque has commissioned London-based tattoo artist Claudia De Sabe to transform a UX compact SUV into a unique mobile work of art. The UX tattoo car is a project that is strictly to be a one-of-a-kind and while it doesn’t have a price tag, it is estimated the bespoke work will cost more than £120,000 ($146,000).
With the world heading further into self-isolation to help limit the spread of the coronavirus, it is a small respite to see something light arrive on my desk. And like much else of my reporting in the coming weeks, the observations have been strictly limited to the digital sphere here. The images and accompanying video show a delicate design that is beautifully applied. And in a timely gesture of optimism, the car features a koi, the traditional Japanese motif that speaks of the qualities of good fortune and perseverance.
