Everything went wrong for the Ottawa Senators last season. It’s why they replaced both their head coach and general manager while pivoting their roster in the offseason. Some would say they are taking a step back, especially after trading Jakob Chychrun this summer. Others might say otherwise because of the offseason they had.

Everything You Need To Know

  • The Senators traded Chychrun but they added Nick Jenson, David Perron, and Michael Amadio to bolster the depth of the forward and the defensive units.
  • The forward unit is what gives this team hope as it can be great this season. Tim Stutzle and Brady Tkachuk are the stars leading the way while Drake Batherson, Ridley Greig, Shane Pinto, and Josh Norris are among those who round out the four forward lines.
  • Goaltending was an issue in the past but the hope is that they fixed that with their big splash in the offseason. The Senators acquired Linus Ullmark who won the Vezina trophy in 2023 and is one of the better goaltenders in the game.

Projection

It might sound crazy considering the Senators are known for underachieving but they look like a playoff team. They addressed all their big needs heading into the season and are a complete team because of it. It’s why they might not only make it as a wild card but finish near the top of the Atlantic Division.
