After celebrating its historic 40th anniversary last year, nostalgic streetwear brand Stüssy is officially trending again, collaborating with everyone from Marc Jacobs to Comme des Garcons to Martine Rose, making Loro Piana suits with Matthew Williams, showing up on supermodels in magazine photoshoots. Founded by surfboard manufacturer Shawn Stüssy in 1980 in Laguna Beach, California, Stüssy was first sold out of its founder’s car before quickly growing dedicated fanbases in the hip-hop and skateboarding subcultures. Just a few decades later, Stüssy is an internationally known streetwear brand known for defining menswear fashion trends worldwide.
"Everybody calls it surf wear, or urban streetwear, punk, or surf street... I don't name it, and I don't name it on purpose." —
