Dubbed “County Music’s Biggest Night”, the 53rd annual CMA Awards air live tonight at 8/7c on ABC. With this year’s theme being “a celebration of legendary women in country music”, the ceremony will be hosted by superstar Carrie Underwood and special guest hosts Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton. The Country Music Association became the first trade organization formed to promote an individual genre of music when it was established in 1958, and now more than sixty years after its creation, the CMA has more than 7,400 members made of country music industry insiders, including singers, songwriters, producers and other industry professionals. Three-time Grammy Award-winner Kris Kristofferson will be the recipient of this year’s Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award, instituted in 2012 to recognize an artist who has achieved both national and international prominence and stature through concert performances, humanitarian efforts, philanthropy, record sales, and public representation at the highest level.
