American chocolatier and businessman Milton S. Hershey opened the theme park known as Hersheypark on this day in 1907. Initially intended as a place of leisure for the employees of the Hershey’s main production factory in its namesake town of Hershey, Pennsylvania, the park has evolved over more than a century to become a top-of-the-line family entertainment complex. Offering more than 70 rides and attractions, Hersheypark is filled with thrilling rollercoasters and a vibrant zoo stocked with a variety of animals. More than three million people attend Hersheypark every year, making it one of the 20 most visited parks in the United States.
“The value of our good is not measured by what it does, but by the amount of good it does to the one concerned.” —
