The 52 annual International Council of Air Shows Convention begins today — this expo running through Thursday, December 12th at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas is a must-see event for any aviation enthusiast. Held since 1967, then ICAS Convention features dozens of educational events and opportunities for air show organizers and pilots to network and begin preparing for the upcoming new year. One of the world’s leading trade associations for aviation industry professionals, the International Council of Air Shows was formed in Milwaukee, WI in 1967, with the goal “to provide information to air show sponsors and pilots; to promote safety at all aviation events; and to work with government agencies to develop air show safety standards.” Attended by nearly 2,000 annually, the four-day convention is more popular than ever — the 2018 edition nearly broke the event’s all-time attendance record, attracting aviators from five different continents.
“Sometimes, flying feels too godlike to be attained by man. Sometimes, the world from above seems too beautiful, too wonderful, too distant for human eyes to see.” — Charles Lindbergh, American Aviator and Medal of Honor Recipient —
